Luxury Custom Residence Interior Design

INTERIOR DESIGN FOR LUXURY SEMI-CUSTOM RESIDENCE

This contemporary custom residence blends relaxed island living with refined, thoughtful design.

CLIENT: Private Residence
LOCATION: Kohanaiki, Big Island, Hawai’i
PROJECT COMPLETED: 2026

This custom residence was designed as a welcoming retreat for family to gather, relax, and create lasting memories. The home features four bedrooms, a detached ʻohana unit, and a two-car garage, providing flexibility and comfort for family and guests alike.

InForm Design provided comprehensive interior design services, including interior architectural design, material selection, lighting, plumbing and appliance specification, furniture design and procurement, artwork curation, and final styling and staging. Guided by the homeowners’ vision, the design emphasizes comfort, warmth, and livability over formality, creating a space that feels both refined and effortlessly inviting.

The interior palette embraces a minimalist aesthetic that establishes a sense of calm throughout the home. Bright, light-filled interiors were intentionally designed to maximize natural daylight and foster a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape. Carefully selected materials, textures, and furnishings complement the natural beauty of Kohanaiki while maintaining a contemporary residential character.

Designed to support both everyday relaxation while creating an atmosphere tailored for entertaining, the home includes thoughtfully integrated gathering spaces, including a custom bar area that serves as a focal point for hosting friends and family. Throughout the residence, furnishings and accessories were selected to create an atmosphere that is sophisticated yet approachable, encouraging residents and visitors to comfortably enjoy the home rather than simply admire it.

A key element of the homeowners’ vision was the incorporation of a curated collection of art that combines works by local artists with pieces and artifacts acquired from destinations around the world, resulting in interiors that feel deeply personal while celebrating a broad range of cultural influences.

The result is a contemporary island residence that balances simplicity, comfort, and connection to place. By thoughtfully blending natural materials, abundant light, locally inspired artwork, and spaces designed for gathering, InForm created a home that embodies the relaxed elegance of Kohanaiki and offers a uniquely Hawaiʻi living experience for generations to come.
