CLIENT: American Savings Bank
LOCATION: Honolulu, HI
BUILDING AREA: 2,800 SqFt.
COMPLETED: 2020
Its location on a prominent corner of King Street highlights and serves as a modern beacon for the surrounding community with its simplicity and clean lines. Spanning 2,800 square feet, what the building lacks in size is made up for in its appearance.
The distinctive butterfly roof makes a bold statement and allows for high clerestory windows to provide maximum natural lighting. The inverted slopes of the roof shelter dozens of solar panels, harboring them from view. Continuing to prioritize efficiency and design, the team employed similar innovative strategies to hide mechanical equipment on mezzanines.
The result was a project that is most fittingly an embodiment of conventional and progressive style, serving as a forerunner in modern banking design.
